Œuvre 062
« My grandson - too spoiled » 05/2022 80 x 130 cm This work took part in the competition organised by France Patchwork in 2022. It was exhibited in September 2022 in Ste-Marie-aux-Mines as part of the Carrefour Européen du Patchwork et Art textile event. Theme : « Le Batik, dans tous ses états ». Inspiration : When visiting restaurants or walking in the city, more and more overweight children are noticed. The cause is usually malnutrition or lack of exercise. They often appear quite self-confident and are dressed in expensive brand-name clothes. To hold up a mirror to these young people and their parents is the intention of this picture. Realisation : Two small irregular heptagons and hexagons each were enlarged with irregularly wide stripes using the log-cabin technique to create the face. Cotton fabrics in many shades of pink were used, some of them batiked, as was the pale grey background. Labels, like those found in most branded clothing, were used to add texture to the background. The quilting was done along the Log Cabin stripes in meander.
